Modern merchant Xu Ansheng transmigrates to become magistrate of Taoyuan. He prospers local commerce and resists exorbitant taxes, drawing the empress’s incognito inspection. Romance blooms between them, yet treacherous Lord Anle repeatedly plots to assassinate the empress and drive the pair apart.Believing the empress dead, Xu raises troops to march on the capital, crushes the conspiracy and saves her. He declines the offer to rule side by side, returns to Taoyuan and is conferred the rank of First-Class Magistrate.
