After her mother's death, little Sophie suffers abuse until her phoenix spirit summons her eight powerful uncles from across the galaxy. They bring her home, where she discovers she can see ghosts and heal wounded minds. She exposes a maid's murder, befriends her jealous cousin and saves a kidnapped boy. Now she sets out to find her birth father, Orion, who may have ties to the royal family.
