At ten, the heroine witnesses her father brutally murder her mother Shen Tinglan. Following her mother’s last wish, she heads to Shanghai to seek refuge with her maternal uncle only to be coldly rejected. Left desperate, she is later fetched by the uncle and returns home to exhume her mother’s remains, exposing her father’s crime. The investigation uncovers her aunt Shen Tingxue’s vicious envy: she crippled her sister’s ankles, sold her to the father, and abused her for years. Clever and resilient, the girl gathers evidence bit by bit to bring all culprits to justice. Letting go of hatred eventually, she raises her aunt’s daughter Shen Baor, builds a new life as a suspense novelist and marches toward a bright future.
