Career woman Zhou Qing hires nanny Zhang Guilan to look after her diabetic father Zhou Zhengde. To cut corners, Zhang Guilan serves him congee with hidden sugar for a long time, triggering a severe hyperglycemic crisis that lands the old man in hospital. After the incident, Zhang Guilan destroys evidence and stirs up trouble via livestreaming. Using critical proof including footage from a stray dog collar and the sugar can’s loyalty code, Zhou Qing sues her. The case uncovers that Zhang Guilan used the same method to care for another elderly man Chen Maosheng, leading to his death. Ultimately, it pushes the home service industry to adopt stricter care assessment protocols.
