In war-torn Republican China, bandits hunted young Lu Qingshan and Wen Shiyi. To save him, Shiyi was drugged and muted. They marked each other with paired heart pendants before separation.Fifteen years later, Shiyi marries into the Lu household. Blindly searching for his childhood savior, Qingshan mistreats her. His cousin Lu Miaoqing teams up with Deputy Qi, steals the pendant to impersonate Shiyi and brands her a spy. Deceived, Qingshan harms her and loses their child.Shiyi proves herself with a bamboo tune and old scars. The scheme collapses. Crushed, she asks to leave. Qingshan secretly lets her escape and dies in battle to honor his vow. With his farewell note and peach hairpin, Shiyi abandons their love and journeys alone. Their youthful romance fades into wartime tragedy.
