At the age of eight, the crown prince, due to his playful nature, accidentally fell from a rockery and was on the verge of death. Concubine Chen urgently rushed him to the Imperial Medical Office. However, on the way to the Imperial Medical Office, they were obstructed by Empress Xiao, the crown prince's biological mother. Empress Xiao falsely accused Concubine Chen of hiding her lover in the carriage. Not only did she refuse to make way, but she also intended to shoot the so - called "lover" with an arrow. No matter how much Concubine Chen tried to explain, Empress Xiao remained obstinate. Eventually, she shot the crown prince. When she realized that the "lover" who had died was actually her own son, it was already too late.
