During the severe drought in 1930s Texas, five-year-old orphan Flora, who can communicate with animals, is treated as a monster by her aunt. She is fortunately adopted by the kind-hearted Clara. Her special gift brings hope to her new family yet also draws schemes and false accusations. With the help of her adoptive brother Daniel, renowned doctor Lucas and noble youth Reynard, Flora clears her name and studies medicine. In the harsh famine years, her innocence and kindness light up hope for everyone around her.
