Lu Li, the only daughter of the Lu family, falls for a poor scholar named Shen Shimei who has come to the capital to take the imperial exams. For his sake, she severs ties with her father and insists on marrying him. To save Shen Shimei from a deadly illness, Lu Li sacrifices her divine gifts and even ruins her own appearance. With her help, he makes a full recovery and goes on to top the exams, earning the title of top scholar and widespread praise. When Lu Li thinks her hardships are finally over, she discovers that her husband has long been having a secret affair with the Princess Royal. Worse still, he frames the Lu family for witchcraft and has them all executed. But here's what they're not aware of: the Daughter of Destiny can share her fortune with her husband. But if he ever betrays and abandons her, he will be doomed for eternity.
