Abandoned by her father during a brutal famine, Clara jumps into a dry well and travels to a modern mafia city full of food. Her unique cooking impresses gang boss Lawrence. She trades meals for grain, seeds and supplies to save her starving town. Greedy dad teams up with a rival gang to seize the portal, but Clara defeats them and brings hope to both worlds with her dishes.
