Three years later, by a twist of fate, she is forced to attend the imperial selection as Xu Leyang herself. To prevent the Emperor from recognizing her, she deliberately tans her skin and presents herself unattractively, making constant blunders. Unbeknownst to her, the Emperor has been searching relentlessly for his beloved first wife, Song Shiwei. As he interacts with Xu Leyang, he gradually begins to uncover her true identity. The two engage in a battle of wits and an intense push-and-pull within the palace walls, ultimately overcoming all obstacles to build a devoted, lifelong partnership where "one man loves only one woman.
