Zao’er Blooms Anew on the Loess Land
After losing her parents at a young age, Lin Zao lives with her uncle’s family for ten years, doing endless hard labor and enduring constant abuse from her aunt, Zhou Cuihua. She secretly saves just 9.9 yuan, only for the family to set their sights on it. Desperate to raise money for their daughter’s marriage, they accept a bride price of 1,000 yuan and marry Lin Zao off to Chen Dahe, a retired soldier burdened by ugly rumors. Everyone expects her life to fall apart, but Lin Zao and Chen Dahe begin with nothing more than a pile of scrap metal behind an old repair shop. Gifted at identifying valuable waste materials, she travels from village to village collecting scrap and builds connections with steel mills. She also takes in Li Qiao, a woman fleeing domestic abuse, and helps her rebuild her life. Jealous of Lin Zao’s growing business, her cousin’s husband, Qian Youde, joins forces with competitors to spread rumors, steal orders, and drive her out. Lin Zao uses complete transaction records to prove her innocence, wins back her clients, secures demolition contracts, and establishes Rust Construction. Eventually, she lands a major project in the provincial capital. Once an orphan who was bullied and traded away for a bride price, Lin Zao builds her future from the 9.9 yuan she once hid away. After achieving success, she lets go of the pain of the past, supports her struggling relatives, and transforms the repair shop that once trapped her into Jujube Tree Park.
