She soon discovers that Henry has remarried Clarissa Monroe, the daughter of Ms. Barrett. Tragically, Oliver is killed by Ms. Barrett and Clarissa. To win favor with Evelyn’s father, a powerful commander, Henry murders Ms. Barrett. Driven by grief and rage, Clarissa kills Henry and then takes her own life.
